A monochrome video projection of ones and zeros fills the dark space. A human figure, barely visible in the rush of digital numbers, starts to move on the pole, trying out different positions in the electric haze.
I Strip Myself of Binary combines pole dance, live music and live video art. The work is about trying out ways in which the human form, the digital haze of video projections, and the deep pulse of electronic music can be melted together. The body of the dancer becomes and universal mark for human beings, it ceases to be strictly a picture of a woman. This being tries out different positions and different movements in the digital flow of zeros and ones, ultimately leaving no trace of its existence. What is left is the constant possibility to make another decision, tearing away from the dominant binary.
I Strip Myself of Binary also has a live musician on stage, creating electronic sounds and beats to the movement of the dancer. A video artist also takes the stage, mixing the ones and zeros live. The three artists work together, reacting to each other, and forming a pulsating multi-disciplinary artwork.
