We are a team of Finnish artists led by visual artist and artistic designer Sofi Häkkinen, circus artist and artistic designer Miradonna Sirkka, and producer and experience designer Inna Huttunen. Recover Laboratory is a chameleon that combines different fields of art into immersive experiences. We ask you to stop for a while, and experience art fully in your own way. The artworks are born in the steamy crossroads of contemporary circus, contemporary art and experience design - and further mixed with music, theatre and other forms of art. The works are huge immersive labyrinths, multidisciplinary performances on stage, children’s immersive wonderlands, live-installations, or something totally different.
The delightfully surreal, even absurd, immersive shows often take the form of a labyrinth – and sometimes they don’t. As an audience member, you are invited to step inside, find your way, make your choices, and create your own experience.
We build frameworks where we – along with the audience – can explore the world and being in the world. The reason behind our artworks is honesty; connecting with people in the freedom provided by art. Anything is possible in our spaces, just like everything is possible in an ordinary day. We see the extraordinary in nothingness.
Your experience with us can be gentle or harsh, bizarre or detached, challenging or soft; it can go as far as you want. Let’s go together.
Curious. Honest. Site-specific. Raw. Gentle. Surreal.
Recover Laboratory is based in Helsinki, Finland. The core team consists of Miradonna Sirkka, Inna Huttunen and Sofi Häkkinen, who design all the productions of Recover Laboratory. Häkkinen, Huttunen and Sirkka share an optimistic and determined mindset. If we don’t know what to do, we will find out.

They say Miradonna is an entity; she is water, that has many forms depending on the environment. Miradonna loves sports and arts. She has a terrible tattoo on her ankle that says “cirque”.

Miradonna has things under control, but at the same time there is nothing to have under control. Or maybe control doesn’t exist in the first place. Miradonna is a rough thinker who draws broad lines; she is a circus philosopher who questions her field and re-invents it constantly.

As a thinker and an idealist, Miradonna challenges people to be honest to themselves. She believes in free love, and always sees the parts in people that they try to hide.

A master in analyzing emotions, Miradonna might unexpectedly ask you enormous questions. She is not afraid to ask for help or attention.

Miradonna is ashamed of everything and nothing at the same time.

In Recover Laboratory Miradonna takes care of what performers do, and why they do it. She also performs herself; thinks, writes and oversees the big picture.

Her glance penetrates. Sofi is a dynamic and an innovative tinkerer, who turns any material into anything.

Sofi combines glue, tape, humour, horror, terror, and laughs at all that in silence. She is shy and hides in dark corners, like a vampire. This particular vampire’s mind lives in a sparkling and humorous, extravagant paradise.

Sofi is effective, a fast thinker and an unconditional creator, who survives in very difficult environments with her neverending ideas. She sees beauty in trash, and gathers garbage and junk in her studio, where she builds bizarre artworks.

Sofi is a Master of Art. She sees and remembers things that others don’t, and uses them where no one expects it. She never reveals that much, even if you ask. Sofi creates videos that seem to come from a parallel universe, a dadaistic dreamland where things are not what they might seem at first glance.

In Recover Laboratory Sofi is in charge on how everything looks, feels and is. She pairs up with Miradonna to make the art happen in the labyrinth. She also thinks, writes, builds, destroys, gives orders and compliments to everyone.

Inna has a big heart and big ideas. She has some kind of superpowers in her bubbly core.

Inna is genuinely interested in every individual and she believes in you even when you don’t. Inna is the sunshine that flows into the dark caves, and gives them a sparkle that doesn’t go out. She always notices if something is not right.

She demands a lot and does it with a smile on her face. In return she gives everything for the ones she works with. She is a deep conversationalist, who questions everything and wants to make the world a better place.

Inna is a creative storyteller and a fearless visionaire. Inna has a unique degree on Experience Management from Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and she produces and designs grande multisensory, immersive art mayhems. Currently she's finishing her Master's degree in International Art Management in six different countries. Yep, you read it right.

She is the epitome of “Recover Spirit”, and the blood beating through the veins of the labyrinth, making sure everything and everyone is ok.

In addition to this core trio, we have a wide network of professionals working with us in and the team is always re-formed by the needs of the performance space and the artwork at hand. First we come to the space and then we start thinking about the script and what could work in the space. Please see the full crew on each production’s own site.
We are constantly seeking for artists who create artworks, that fit the Recover Laboratory Labyrinths. Interested in working with us? Email us at
